Shinobe Wall, Parowan, May 9

We were so excited to experience this "Maple Canyon-like" conglomerate rock just 30 minutes from our doorstep... until we pulled up to the area. After a fairly sketchy 30 minute approach, you're looking at a 10-foot wide, downward sloping landing area which drops off into almost a cliff. Not a safe place for Emery to play with her digger. Good things?
  1. We added "Family Friendly Climbing Areas" to our list of books to write (no, Shinobe will not be included).
  2. We got to see the famous Parowan petroglyphs. They were rad. The best preserved and most concentrated we've seen.
  3. We got to go on a hike up to check out the rock.
  4. Dad taught Em how to throw rocks.
  5. Em got to climb rocks, chase lizards and crawl through a perfectly, nature-made Emery-sized arch. Pics and video below.
